Sunset Events have delivered again!
Hitting our shores in the second weekend of October will be round two of Perth's One Movement Music Festival. It made a pretty good first impression last year with an exceptional line-up, and it looks like this year is no exception.
Grinspoon, Ben Kweller (Heck yes!), Children Collide and British India are set to headline Saturday. While you can catch Xavier Rudd, Shapeshifter, Dan Sultan and Operator Please on Sunday.
The festival will host several of Australia's rising stars including Cloud Control, Sally Seltmann, An Horse, Hungry Kids of Hungary, Parades, Richard In Your Mind, Boy & Bear and Tim & Jean. Also making up the Australian component of the festival will be Miami Horror, Dead Letter Circus, Drapht, Gypsy & The Cat, The Melodics, The Holidays, The Only, The Chemist, The Paper Scissors and Unearthed High Winners Stonefield.
International acts set to grace the One Movement stage include Dengue Fever (USA), ZE! (Malaysia), Delta Spirit (USA), Via Tania (USA), Raghu Dixit (India), Jonneine Zapata (USA), Bedouin Soundclash (Can), KORA (NZ), The Telephones (Japan), Melodramas (UK), Liz Green (UK), Get Dexter (UK) and The Great Spy Experiment (Sing).

I'll closet you!

Today I come to you from the pleasant home of Sunset Events. I've wanted to write about this grand place for some time now but it is not something I could explain at first glance. No this place is not as it seems upon first walking in. At first you think, my goodness this place rocks does anyone get any work done? Well... the simple answer to that is yes, and boy is there work to get done.
On my first day I sat in the front room on a couple of comfy seats reading X-Press magazine, waiting for someone to collect me. After being introduced to the person who would look after me during my time in the office, I was whisked through the office and given a bunch of names I struggle to remember to this day. While on my little office tour, however, I noticed a few things. Firstly the lack of shoes around the place reminded me alot of Murdoch, it also made me feel completely at home. Next I noticed a Kelly Clarkson poster, which confsued me a little... Turns out Sunset Events is promoting her show in WA. This fact was somewhat redeemed when I later found out that Eric Hutchinson is the supporting act. Also, you can' help but notice the two dogs wondering around the place. I have no idea who they belong to but they are the cutest dogs who roam in and out of office rooms daily. For the rest of that day I sat at an office desk complete with a telephone and random CD's. I got to take home a few of these CD's that day, including Guy Sebastian's latest album which made my mum quite happy. I didn't do anything too notable on that first day, except right a paragraph for an email that would be sent to Sunset subscribers. But that day, was still a good day. Seeing and meeting the people behind some of the best events I've been to recently is a pretty awesome experience.
The past couple of weeks have really flown by.Today marks the fourth week I have spent at Sunset Events, and it feels like yesterday that I first walked in. On a personal level I've had a couple of nice achievements including writing part of an e-mail sent to 150,000 subscribers. I've also receievd a pretty good insight to the industry I've wanted to work in for several years, and so far I like what I see. Except for maybe the fact that people don't stop in this place. It seems nice and casual from the outside, but from the inside there is just mounds of firey chaos relishing to be released.
Also, in a completely unrelated subject, why the hell is Justin Bieber so popular?! As far as I can recall no 3 year olds ever cried over the Jonas Brothers. Besides... he only has one really good song anyway, I mean the only song I've heard was really really bad *nods*.

The festivals of 2010.
West Coast Blues 'n' Roots Festival 2010 here I come!
Next years festivals are sending me broke. I have my Southbound ticket. This year was my first Southbound experience and I would have done ANYTHING and I mean anything to see The Kooks live. I ended up at the front of the crowd right in front of Luke Pritchard, it could not have been a better experience. Despite not having a favourite band on the line-up this year (excpet for Jamie T playing on the Friday night for campers only, and i'm not camping =[ ) I still bought my ticket the day they went on sale. Southbound is just one experience you can not deny yourself. If you have not been to Southbound, you're seriously missing out. It's the closest thing WA has to Glastonbury, and we all know how good that festival is!
I also have my Big Day Out ticket. There are three big reasons as to why I'm heading to the BDO next year for the first time. 1. Muse 2. Lily Allen and 3. Powderfinger. Three of my top bands on one line-up, I could not go past it! Although I've been told the crowd is kind of rough I'm willing to endure bruises and sore muscles, after all injury's do become a part of the festival experience.
Last on my current festival line-up is the West Coast Blues and Roots festival. Two words - Crowded House. I love them! It may have something to do with me being part Australian and part New Zealander, but I just think their music is magical. Not to mention the way a crowd lights up when they hear their classic songs. After I hear "Better Be Home Soon" live I will be able to die happily. Other awesome bands joining Crowded House are The John Butler Trio, Jimmy Barnes, Newton Faulkner, Angus & Julia Stone, and Lisa Mitchell.
Hopefully I'll somehow end up with a ticket to Laneway Festival as well. Florence and the Machine, The Middle East and Mumford & Sons, you can't go wrong!
